Why would God expect us to live by the same set of rules for 2000+ years?

I say if God was able to write (or inspire) the Bible to give us His rules 2,000 years ago, then there's no reason He can't repeat the same process today to provide an update. Maybe He has writer's block, or the revised language has been held up by the Heavenly Legislature.
